Parents and Guardians:

Welcome to 2024
Welcome to 2024 and the start of the second half of our school year. The first semester brought lots of exciting things, great academic gains, and student growth. Our staff is ready to embrace the grind for the remaining portion of the year to help your student reach his/her full potential. I have to thank you for the continued support as well as communication that I receive from you as Parents and Guardians. Remember, stay involved and ask questions, that is the only way that we can all develop this learning community to its fullest.

1st semester grades are now finalized and grade cards have been issued. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our staff. Parents/Guardians of 8th-grade students: your students all take two classes in their 8th-grade year that are for High School Credit. Some 8th-grade students take even more than that. Remember, these classes count for High School credit. In particular, all students MUST pass Health class to graduate. North Putnam High School DOES NOT offer Health. If your student failed this course in the 1st semester, he/she has been placed back in this class. If your child fails this class this semester, the class will have to be taken again at some point.

Weather-Related Issues - With the Winter season upon us, we are looking to the weather forecast almost daily. Should there be any cancellations or delays, the Central Office will communicate that information in a variety of ways to our community. Should students be placed on an E-Learning Day, NPCSC teachers will have work posted for students no later than 9:00 a.m. of that day for students to complete. Students are expected to complete this work just as work assigned in a brick-and-mortar fashion.

Surveys and Testing - The 2nd semester marks the beginning of the testing season for our students to check on academic progress. Your students will again be taking part in the I-Learn this Spring. Your student needs to be in school as much as physically possible for the remainder of the school year to take part in lessons and remediation activities designed to help bolster academic skills.

Exclusionary Date - The date is fast approaching when certain students will be excluded per Indiana Code should the School Nurse not receive the proper documentation needed. Some of these items include but are not limited to, missing birth certificates and shot records. Questions - contact the School Nurse, Mrs. Mary Unger, munger@nputnam.k12.in.us.

Homework Help - NPMS will again be offering Homework Help for all students wishing to get some extra help on assignments. Students can work with NPMS staff members on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday until 4:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays focus on Math while Tuesdays focus on English Language Arts. Students must have arranged for transportation as transportation is not provided for this program.
